Pine Street Park Shooting Involving Relatives Leads to Arrest Warrant

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Recreation Park, known to locals as Pine Street Park, was the scene of a shooting involving two members of the same family yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:15pm.

According to police radio transmissions, one man called the police to report his uncle, Demetrius Daniels, was shooting at him from a vehicle.  Others called to report hearing gunshots.

"Caller said his uncle is shooting at him from a Ford truck at Pine Street Park," says a dispatcher on the police channel.

Raised on Remsen Avenue, Super Bowl Champion Jonathan Casillas Makes New Brunswick Proud

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Former New Brunswick High School standout and one-time Super Bowl champion Jonathan Casillas is going into his 6th year in the NFL, and just signed another one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Casillas won his Super Bowl championship in 2010 as a member of the New Orleans Saints, a source of pride for that city and Casillas' hometown of New Brunswick.

He is one of the first, if not the first NFL player from New Brunswick to win a Super Bowl.

Eagleton Institute of Politics Screens Mitt Romney Documentary

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—"Mitt," a new documentary film produced by Netflix, will be screened tonight at 7:30pm at the Eagleton Institute's "Popcorn & Politics" event, free and open to all Rutgers University students at 191 Ryders Lane.

The documentary, which was six years in the making, focused on former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and follows him during his failed 2008 and 2012 presidential election campaigns.

Johnson & Johnson Accepts Deal to Sell Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics Unit to The Carlyle Group

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Johnson and Johnson (J&J) accepted a $4.16 billion offer from global private equity firm, The Carlyle Group, on March 31, to buy one of its largest units, thereby meeting the deadline to make a deal on the very day it was set to expire.

Over a year ago J&J disclosed that it would sell its blood diagnostics division, Raritan-based Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (OCD), which screens donated blood for infection and makes diagnostic tests for AIDS.

“Blood Moon” Lunar Eclipse Expected Tonight in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—If weather permits, residents of Hub City will be able to catch a glimpse of a rare celestial event taking place Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Depending on the local weather in New Jersey, residents of New Brunswick and much of the continent will be able to obtain a grand view of the total lunar eclipse event, as the moon enters a tetradic lunar cycle and its face appears "blood red" to observers on the ground.
