NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Recreation Park, known to locals as Pine Street Park, was the scene of a shooting involving two members of the same family yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:15pm.

According to police radio transmissions, one man called the police to report his uncle, Demetrius Daniels, was shooting at him from a vehicle.  Others called to report hearing gunshots.

“Caller said his uncle is shooting at him from a Ford truck at Pine Street Park,” says a dispatcher on the police channel.

A crime alert issued today by the Rutgers University Police Department also said the victim “reported that the suspect then drove his vehicle in the direction of the victim.”

Officers were unable to locate the alleged shooter, who was identified on the police radio.

At 7:09pm, a dispatcher alerted all police units to be on the lookout for Daniels’ tan Ford Explorer, warning he was “armed and dangerous.”

Captain JT Miller, spokesperson for the New Brunswick Police Department, did not respond to a question emailed to him earlier today asking to confirm Daniels’ status as a fugitive.
