Protest at Rutgers Board Shows Support For Part-Time Lecturers

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—About 60 Rutgers faculty, students, staff, and alumni gathered outside of the Board of Governors meeting on October 15 to protest the current administrative treatment of part-time lecturers (PTL’s), also known as adjuncts.

The Board of Governors began by going into a closed session meeting, leaving the public outside, protesting loudly before the open session began later that afternoon.

14th Annual New Brunswick March and Rally Against Domestic Violence

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Saturday, October 17, the New Brunswick Domestic Violence Awareness Coalition (NBDVAC) will gather for its 14th annual Domestic Violence Survivor March and Rally. 

The march is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Suydam Street Reformed Church on 74 Drift Street and will feature a variety of speakers including the Dean of Students for Rutgers Busch Campus and Chair of the New Brunswick Domestic Violence Awareness Coalition, Sandra Rocio Castro.

County Improvement Authority Holds Recycling-Themed Art Contest for Local Youth

CRANBURY, NJ—The Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA) is hosting a contest for young artists to create the next cover for its 2016 recycling brochure.

The contest, which began October 1, is open to all Middlesex County youth in the fifth grade and younger.

If you or a child you know are interested in submitting a piece of art, entries can be mailed to the MCIA, for the attention of Maria Prato, Public Information Officer, 101 Interchange Plaza, Cranbury, NJ 08512.

Lady Zebras Soccer Team Secures GMC Gold Division Title

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— The New Brunswick High School Lady Zebras soccer team (10-2-0) are on an eight-game winning streak after a slow 2-2 start to their season.

Having led the Greater Middlesex Conference Gold Division along with South River and Dunellen, it was a fight until the very end for the division title.

In recent games, New Brunswick battled against three other teams, needing to get as many wins as they could muster.

Congressman Pallone Pushing Gov. Christie to Follow Through with 2010 Wind Energy Deal

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On September 30, along with U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, New Brunswick Congressman's Frank Pallone wrote a letter to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie concering an upcoming auction of ocean space off the New Jersey coast.

The 343,833 acres of ocean is located off the coast of southern New Jersey and is being put up to auction by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) on November 9.
