2014 Chef’s Night Raises $85K For Elijah’s Promise Vocational Project

FRANKLIN, NJ—As the sun set over the picturesque grounds on the Palace at Somerset Park on June 2, guests filed into its grand foyer for an evening of delectable bites and philanthropic merry making.

The evening marked the annual Elijah's Promise Chef's Night — a benefit to raise support for the Promise Culinary School.

For over thirteen years, the vocational program has provided culinary training to the community, offering tuition assistance to veterans, displaced workers, and the disabled.

Ten Comics Come Together For Popular Monthly Show at Stress Factory

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Tuesday July 15, comedian Gordon Baker-Bone is hosting "The Big 10 Comedy Show," at New Jersey's most famous comedy club, the Stress Factory in New Brunswick.

The Big 10 Comedy Show costs just $10 but also features ten amazing comics that perform regularly in the New Jersey and New York area. There will also be several guest comedians performing throughout the evening as well.

Rutgers Art School Hosts Free Summer Concert Series

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—This month and into August, the Mason Gross School of Arts will be putting on the annual Mason Gross Summer Series.

Every summer, the school hosts a variety of music, dance and theater performances, all free of charge. 

Dates are set for the 16th, 23rd, 24th, and 30th of July, as well as the 6th of August, and will alternate between the Nicholas Music Center and the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Center.

Second Ciclovia of 2014 Takes Different Route Through Hub City

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Thousands of local residents along with a plethora of community organizations turned out Saturday for the second "Ciclovia" of 2014, which blocked off 3.2 miles of city streets to vehicular traffic.

The practice, originating in Bogota, Columbia, temporarily closes down streets to automobiles and opens the roads for residents to walk, bike, skate, or participate in other healthy activities.  Yesterday's event marked the third Ciclovia held in the Hub City.

Theatre Review: Fearless Productions Brings “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” to Edison

EDISON, NJ—At the Edison Valley Playhouse, Fearless Productions has mounted a production of "Sexual Perversity in Chicago," one of David Mamet’s earlier shock value works.

The original play concerns itself with four urban 1970's twenty-somethings, but this version has been re-worked in a more contemporary vein and set in present day.

This version replete with its signature colloquial dialogue and profanity that is far less shocking today than when the play first appeared in the mid-seventies, had a very talented cast.
