Feds Approve Proposed Rutgers Seismic Research Off Jersey Shore, But Christie Administration Pushes Back
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In response to federal approval of a controversial seismic imaging research project that would take place of the Jersey shore, the New Jersey state governmnt has filed for an injunction to halt the study.
"The state has filed legal papers to seek injunctive relief in federal court to prevent the vessel, R/V Marcus G. Langseth, from conducting seismic research off the coast of New Jersey at this time," reads an announcement made by the New Jersey Department of Environmental (DEP) today.
Two New Brunswick Residents Arrested for Stealing Valuables and Tiny Dog in Franklin
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Two New Brunswick residents have been arrested and charged for the burglary of a dog, a one-year-old Schnoodle dog named "Pepper" along with over $12,000 in jewelery and property.
When the Franklin Township resident reported the theft of her property and dog to the police, they in turn contacted nearby animal shelters, local media and veterinarians.
J&J to Pay Oregon $4M to Resolve Deceptive Marketing Claims Over Recalled Hip Implants
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–City-based Johnson & Johnson (J&J) will pay Oregon $4 million to resolve deceptive marketing claims over recalled metal-on-metal hip implants, according to published reports.
In the agreement announced last Wednesday, the settlement will only be a fraction of the $2.47 billion that J&J already said it would pay last year to resolve about 8,000 U.S. suits against its DePuy unit, the maker of the implants.

Thousands Turn Out For Rutgers Big 10 Celebration
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The nation's birthday wasn't the only cause for celebration last week, as some 5,000 people attended a party on the field at Rutgers' football stadium, complete with dramatic video presentations and a fireworks show.
The event generated a lot of buzz with thousands of fans in attendance, including two thousand that registered prior to the event and earned a free beach towel by doing so.
