Three Hub City Restaurants Participating in Fifth Annual “Eat Drink Local” Restaurant Week

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The 5th Annual Eat Drink Local Restaurant Week began on July 22 with participating restaurants offering specially crafted prix-fixe menus, seasonally driven dishes, supplemental menus, and cocktail specials.

Presented by the award-winning magazine Edible Jersey, this ten-day event lasts through the end of July, and showcases the broad range of foods produced in the Garden State and the creativity of the state’s chefs in preparing dishes using locally-sourced products.

Desta Ethiopian: A Slice of Addis Ababa on Albany Street

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Before I get into how fantastic Desta Ethiopian Restaurant is, and it is fantastic, I want to preface by stating that I have never been able to ‘get into’ Ethiopian cuisine – it just wasn’t my thing.

I have dined at a number of Ethiopian establishments, over a number of years, and nothing I have ever tried before has come close to the remarkable dishes I was served on a Friday night at Desta.

New George Street Gastropub Evokes Prohibition-Era Nostalgia

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Still at the soft opening stage, The Dillinger Room, located at 338 George Street, is poised to be a New Brunswick staple.

After an eight month renovation the 105-year-old space, which was previously occupied for 19 years by Makeda Ethiopian Restaurant, is completely unrecognizable.

The polished concrete floors give the seamless effect of an enormous slab of cat-eye marble.

New Indian Restaurant on George Street Dishing Out Curries in a Hurry

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Daytime dwellers of downtown New Brunswick are no strangers to a quick grab-and-go lunch.

With options ranging from made-to-order subs to brick oven pizza, the lunch crowd can now add quick service Indian cuisine to their dining rotation.

Chapati House, a favorite on New York City’s Upper West Side, recently opened its second outpost at 349 George Street in New Brunswick.

INC: The Evolution of the American Menu

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Brunswick's newest downtown restuarant and bar, INC American Bar & Kitchen, is just the second eatery in the Mark Daniel Hospitality family.

INC — short for Ingredients N Craft — is nestled alongside the Heldrich Hotel on George Street in New Brunswick, replacing the twice-failed Daryl Wine Bar.

On Friday, February 28, it seemed like most of New Brunswick braved the cold to check out the grand opening night at the new establishment.

2014 Chef’s Night Raises $85K For Elijah’s Promise Vocational Project

FRANKLIN, NJ—As the sun set over the picturesque grounds on the Palace at Somerset Park on June 2, guests filed into its grand foyer for an evening of delectable bites and philanthropic merry making.

The evening marked the annual Elijah's Promise Chef's Night — a benefit to raise support for the Promise Culinary School.

For over thirteen years, the vocational program has provided culinary training to the community, offering tuition assistance to veterans, displaced workers, and the disabled.
