Source: Rutgers Telefund Managers Laid Off as Out-of-State Company Takes Over

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Sources say that staff layoffs, at least for managers, are part of a deal to outsource the management of the Rutgers University Telefund, as an outside company prepares to take over July 1.

The operation will still remain at 303 George Street in downtown New Brunswick, and officials maintain it "will continue to employ approximately 100 students each semester."

New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra Creates Festival Celebrating Music, Dance, and Art

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Brunswick’s Chamber Orchestra presented a weekendlong festival of events incorporating dance, art, and music for the community.

On Friday there was an opening reception at Alfa Art Gallery in which members of the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra played and community members mingled.

The artwork of John Hawaka was also displayed. One of his pieces helped inspire the creation of the festival.

Six Days After Highland Park Mayor Resigns, Democratic Party Interviews Replacement Candidates

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—With a year and half remaining on his term in the tiny borough's largest office, Democrat Gary Minkoff resigned Tuesday June 10 to take advantage of an unspecified professional opportunity.

Minkoff's abrupt departure calls into effect state laws that put the burden of finding a replacement on two different organizations, one political and one governmental.

Summer Marks Season of City Road Repairs After Rough Winter

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The City of New Brunswick has begun an array of much-needed repairs across the city.

Over the course of the summer, the Department of Public Works will be closing off and repairing parts of Commercial Avenue, Georges Road, Suydam Street, and Hamilton Street, one of the roads most in need of repair citywide.

For two weeks this month, Georges Road will undergo repairs.

Rutgers Student Crowned Miss New Jersey 2014

OCEAN CITY, NJ—With a platform of "Empowering Today's Youth Through Arts Education" and a talent of dance, Cierra J. Kaler-Jones won the 2014 Miss New Jersey competition on Saturday, June 14.

She was officially crowned at Ocean City Music Pier after a week-long competition.
