Rutgers Welcomes Second New Brunswick Chancellor of Barchi Era

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—As of July 1, Rutgers University officially has Dr. Debasish "Deba" Dutta as its new "New Brunswick Chancellor."

Dutta replaced Professor Richard L. Edwards, who left the position after a five-year tenure and will take a one-year sabbatical before returning to the faculty.

A distinguished academic hailing from Purdue University in Indiana, Dr. Dutta comes to Rutgers after spending two years as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity for that school.

Three Hub City Institutions Nominated for Discover Jersey Arts Awards

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Discovery Jersey Arts, a cosponsored project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the ArtPride of New Jersey Foundation, is holding their annual People’s Choice Awards.

Three of New Brunswick’s own institutions, The New Jersey Film Festival, George Street Playhouse, and the State Theatre, are among a handful of organizations honored with nominations for 2016.

VIDEO: High-Profile Performance Piece Goes Wrong in Hub City

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On September 15, the State Theater held a free event in the middle of Livingston Avenue to promote their upcoming show "The Supernaturalists," a magic show created, directed, and produced by well-known magician Criss Angel. 

But the event appeared to come to a premature and anticlimactic end when performer Spencer Horsman was hospitalized after failing to escape from a "water torture cell," a small cube filled completely with water and suspended by a crane.
