NBPD Sergeant Passes Away From Surgery Complications

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On December 1, one of the most recognized and longest-serving police officers in the New Brunswick Police Department passed away at St. Peter's University Hospital after an unforseen complication developed during surgery, at the age of 55.

Sergeant Ann Chapman-Scattergood worked for the police department and was a supervisor in the Patrol Division,  devoting her time and efforts to the people of New Brunswick for over 29 years.

First Event of NJ Red Umbrella Alliance Held in Downtown Church

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Jersey Red Umbrella Alliance (NJRUA) held its first event in honor of the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers on December 17. 

NJRUA is a grassroots organization of dedicated to advocating for the human rights of sex workers in the state of New Jersey.

Approximately two dozen members of the New Brunswick community came to support the organization and its goals to raise awareness about violence that is commonly committed against sex workers and to honor those who have passed away.

Poll: Hillary Clinton Leading Chris Christie by Ten Points in Hypothetical Presidential Race

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— A recent poll released by the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers showed former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton leading Republican Governor Chris Christie in a hypothetical 2016 presidential election. 

The poll gathered answers from 750 adults, of which 49% said they would vote for Clinton, compared to 39% of voters who said they would elect Christie.

South Plainfield Company Recalls 10,000 Imported Playpens Due to Strangulation Hazard

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ–A manufacturer of baby products with a history of recalls has recalled about 10,000 imported playpens sold by several online retailers including Amazon, Kohl’s, Toy ‘R Us, and Walmart, from March 2010 through January 2014, over a strangulation hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC's) recall notice, no injuries or incidents associated with the $60 playpen have been reported.
