NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Rutgers University Police Department is actively investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in an unoccupied classroom on the second floor of the Allision Road Classroom Building on December 20 at 1:03 p.m.
The Allison Classroom Building is located on 618 Allison Road, on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University.
According to the Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD), the fire was extinguished by the building’s fire suppression system. The RUPD also said that the building was safely evacuated and that there were no reported injuries.
A crime alert issued, the seventeenth alert of the semester, described the incident as “a suspicious fire, suspected to be arson.”
