Theatre Review: Outside Mullingar at George Street Playhouse

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The George Street Playhouse has a nice habit of bringing current plays to our area just after the fanfare of the debut productions has quieted a bit.

What the audience gets is an intimate and focused production that brings them in very close.  Outside Mullingar is no exception.

The George Street Playhouse, located in the center of the city's bustling theatre district, last night presented their take on John Patrick Shanley’s Broadway success.

Memorial Held For Rutgers Student Caitlyn Kovacs

PISCATAWAY, NJ—A memorial for Caitlyn Kovacs, a Rutgers student who passed away last month, has been scheduled for Saturday, October 11, from 2-5pm at the Busch Campus Center on Bartholemew Road.

Kovacs was a popular sophomore at Rutgers, pursuing a major in Animal Science, and also had many friends from her hometown of South Brunswick, where her parents reside in the Monmouth Junction section.

Kovacs graduated from South Brunswick High School, where she was a journalist with the school newspaper, "The Viking Vibe."

City Hall Broke Promise Because Developer Said They Cut Secret Deal With Union

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–In a victory for citizens fighting against a controversial new building proposed for Mine Street, more than 130 people came to the August 12 Planning Board meeting, forcing officials to re-schedule it because the room was not large enough.

It was second time in as many tries that the Planning Board hearing had to be cancelled by officials due to overcrowding.

The meeting has since been re-scheduled for 7:30pm on October 14 in a larger venue: the Middlesex County Administration Building, at 75 Bayard Street.

Greater Brunswick Charter School Hosts Third Annual Global Cardboard Challenge

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Greater Brunswick Charter School invites community members to attend its third annual "Global Cardboard Challenge" from 8:30-11:30 am this Saturday, October 11.

This free event is open to the general public and invites children and families from all over to celebrate creativity and imagination.

As part of the Imagination Foundation’s Global Cardboard challenge, children from around the world construct projects from cardboard and recycled materials.

Rutgers Grad Student Increases Awareness of Diabetes Risk Among Local South Asian Community

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Sairaman Nagarajan, a graduate student at Rutgers School of Public Health is committed to educating the South Asian population about the risks associated with Type 2 Diabetes.

Nagarajan, who immigrated to New Jersey in 2012 with a medical degree from SRM University in India, said  he is in a unique position to effect change, according to Rutgers Today, the official media outlet of the state university.

Rare Exhibit of Famous Murder Case From 92 Years Ago on Display at Somerset County Courthouse

SOMERVILLE, NJ–On Friday, October 10, the Somerset County Courthouse will begin displaying an exhibit highlighting a famous muder case that captivated both the City of New Brunswick and Franklin Township more than 92 years ago.

The unveiling of the exhibit will take place in the Jury Assembly Room of the courthouse, located at 20 North Bridge Street, from 2 to 5pm.
