Seminary Silent on Controversial Apartment Project Proposed in Their Name

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Gregg Mast, the President of New Brunswick Theological Seminary, has not responded to multiple inquiries about a controversial proposed housing development scheduled for a hearing at tonight's New Brunswick Planning Board meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30pm in the Middlesex County Administration Building, and renderings for the application are titled "New Brunswick Theological Seminary Housing."

Former Hub City Stomper Embarks On Global Mission of Recovery Through Music

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On September 17, punk rocker Sammy Kay played with his band at the Court Tavern on Church Street to kick off a global tour that will last almost 100 days, ending just before Christmas.

The tour will take him across the United States, through Canada, to Germany, Spain, England, France, as well as other countries.

It’s a big season for Sammy Kay—he also has two new records for sale. 

One is an LP called Fourth Street Singers, and the other is an EP called Second Chances.

Rutgers Student Activities Center Convenience Store Burglarized

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers Police are investigating a burglary at the convenience store located inside the Student Activities Center on George Street, according to a crime alert.

At approximately 3:50 am on October 10, a suspect gained entry to the covenience store by breaking the glass window and stole several valuable items.

The suspect, who police say is not affiliated with the school, has been identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Cyclists and Pedestrians Get Another Chance to Take Over New Brunswick Streets

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Sunday, October 12, New Brunswick will see the third and final Ciclovia event of 2014.

The idea behind Ciclovia originated in Bogota, Columbia, where the city regularly shuts down streets to automobiles and opens the roads for residents to walk, bike, skate and participate in other healthy activities.

The event will begin at 10AM and continue till 3PM, closing down set roadways for both visitors and the New Brunswick community to enjoy.

Developer Secures Approval to Build Apartment Complex and Restaurants in Movie Theatre Parking Lot

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The large parking lot behind the AMC Loews movie theater may soon see the construction of three buildings, including two restaurants and a four-story apartment complex.

On September 22, the city's Zoning Board unanimously approved the application by Raritan Heights Phase II, LLC, a company owned and controlled by Piscataway-based Edgewood Properties, for changes to their already approved plans.

Rutgers Chinese Dance Troupe Performs at Colors of Nations

PISCATAWAY, NJ—The Rutgers Chinese Dance Troupe started in 2000 as an all-female dance group, but since then the team has grown to include male members who study and perform martial arts.

Fourteen years later, the team is bigger and better than ever with almost ten new members that just joined this fall.

Tonight, the troupe will be performing at the Rutgers Internal Student Association's Colors of Nations show, along with an array of other performances by Rutgers-based cultural organizations..
