Rutgers Freshman From East Brunswick Passes Away While Playing Basketball
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Patrick Awosogba, a Rutgers University freshman, recently passed away after collapsing during a recreational basketball game on February 22.
Awosogba collapsed around 2 PM at the Rutgers University Cook/Douglass recreation center.
Lifeguards immediately administrated CPR, and Rutgers Emergency Medical Technicians showed up soon after. Police officers also arrived on the scene.
CDC Awards Rutgers University $550,000 to Study Autism in NJ
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers University's Medical School was awarded $550,000 to study childhood autism and developmental disorders in New Jersey.
This grant is part of $20 million the Center of Disease Control and Prevention is allotting to autism monitoring centers across the United States. This funding will be allotted in a four year cycle.
NJ Film Festival Kicks Off With Documentary on Famous Music Venue in Trenton
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—“Riot on the Dance floor: The Story of Randy Now and City Gardens,” a documentary about the iconic Trenton punk and indie music venue, will be screened at 7pm on January 31 in room #105 of Voorhees Hall on the Rutgers College Avenue campus.
This documentary, and a short piece entitled “Fur Peace Ranch: It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This,” by Andie Walla, will kick off the New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2015 season.
Historic Joyce Kilmer House Open for Tours on December 6
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Saturday, December 6 brings the once in a year opportunity to the home of one of New Brunswick's most famous writers and residents, Joyce Kilmer.
The house, located at 17 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, at the corner with Welton Street, will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM for touring in observance of his 126th birthday.
Hosted by the New Brunswick Historical Association, admission and tours will be free.
