Moe’s Southwest Grill Franchise to Open in East Brunswick This Summer

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ—A new Moe’s Southwest Grill franchise is being built-out on Route 18 North and will open in July, according to a district manager.

“We are opening in July,” said Dominique, a woman whose name and phone number is listed on a help wanted sign and banner at the new fast-casual Mexican restaurant currently under construction.

The business is seeking managers, shift leaders, crew members, cashiers, a [back of house] "prep" worker, and a catering manager, according to the signs.

Rutgers Contemplates The Gospel of Bruce Springsteen

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Rutgers University Professor Azzan Yadin-Israel will discuss the poetry and song lyrics written by modern music legend Bruce Springsteen, and the connections and similarities they have with ancient biblical stories and scripture.

Yadin-Israel has written in depth about the subject in his book, "The Grace of God and the Grace of Man: The Theologies of Bruce Springsteen," and he will speak about it as part of the AuthorTalks series from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at the Alexander Library.

Highland Park Man Pleads Guilty to Horrific Sexual Assault

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said that a Franklin Township man plead guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in front of her nine-month old child on February 19. 

Brandon Cox, age 23, is actually from Highland Park and merely spends weekends in Franklin Township, according to a Detective.

Court records available through the PROMIS/Gavel online database list Cox with yet another address, one in South Brunswick Township.

Another String of Shootings in Somerset Leads to One Arrest

FRANKLIN, NJ—Authorities are investigating a string of shootings that took place over the Memorial Day weekend in the Somerset section of the Township.

County Prosecutor Michael Robertson said the first shooting took place on Friday, May 27, at approximately 8:58 p.m.

Following a 9-1-1 call, the Franklin Township Police Department (FTPD) responded to a report of gunshots fired at a Minetta Road residence.

Parker Home Celebrates 110th Anniversary in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Anyone with an “older” person in their life is likely familiar with the trials and tribulations of aging.

There are medical concerns, complicated living arrangements to be made, and worries about what life will be like as a senior citizen.

At Parker, which operates four senior facilities in Middlesex and Somerset County, things are a bit different.

New Brunswick residents might be familiar with "Parker Home at Landing Lane," located on the outskirts of Buccleuch Park since 1907.

Parlin Resident Charged With Random Murder in Old Bridge

OLD BRIDGE, NJ—Police announced on May 27 they had arrested the man they believe is responsible for fatally attacking a 57-year-old Sayreville man while walking his dog in the Glenwood Apartments.

Earl Allayne, Jr., a 20-year-old resident of Tall Oaks Court in Parlin, has been charged with felony murder, robbery, resisting arrest, eluding, and obstruct administration of the law, according to a spokesperson for the state court system.

NBHA Vendor Charged With Burglary and Theft in East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ—A contractor whose company made tens of thousands of dollars working for the embattled New Brunswick Housing Authority (NBHA) was arrested in an unrelated burglary in East Brunswick.

John Solazzo, a 53-year-old resident of Monroe and a relative of the county's disgraced former Sheriff, is also the owner of a company that specializes in "property upgrade and management," according to numerous invoices he has submitted to the authority over the past several years.
