NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–This year marks a historic milestone for women and higher learning in New Jersey, as Douglass Residential College celebrates its one-hundredth anniversary.
The school, originally named the New Jersey College for Women, opened its doors for the first time in 1918 to 54 students – a mere fraction of its current enrollment of 2,500.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The Rutgers University Geology Museum will host its annual "Open House and Mineral Sale" on Saturday, January 27 in New Brunswick.
This year marks the open house event's 50th anniversary.

Located adjacent to Johnson Park, the "village" is actually a "collection of original, replica and reconstructed 18th and 19th century structures," according to the county's website.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Middlesex County Youth Conservation Corps is accepting applications until August 18 from individuals ages 16 and up.
The Conservation Corps is recruiting young people to work Saturdays during the fall, from September 30 through November 18. Crew members will earn $10.00 per hour.
The group works to protect and preserve over 8,000 acres of open space owned and maintained by Middlesex County – primarily in Old Bridge, Monroe Township, and South Brunswick.
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Rutgers University Professor Azzan Yadin-Israel will discuss the poetry and song lyrics written by modern music legend Bruce Springsteen, and the connections and similarities they have with ancient biblical stories and scripture.
Yadin-Israel has written in depth about the subject in his book, "The Grace of God and the Grace of Man: The Theologies of Bruce Springsteen," and he will speak about it as part of the AuthorTalks series from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at the Alexander Library.
NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ—An extensive array of blossoming flowers, unique succulents, and various garden plants will be available to the public on the weekend of May 12-14 at Rutgers Gardens.
Organizers of the annual event are offering an increased selection of unusual and hard-to-find plants, but will have plenty of familiar favorites on hand, and offer a variety of plants to help provide solutions to difficult home garden sites.

Event coordinators estimated attendance at over 10,000 – bolstered by the coinciding Rutgers Day festivities taking place throughout New Brunswick.
Crowd members perused over 100 handmade craft and food vendors, and enjoyed windy but warm spring weather on the expansive estate lawn.
