Guadagno and Murphy Fend Off Primary Challengers in Gov. Race

NEWARK, NJ—The Lietenant Governor and a former Ambassador to Germany celebrated their victories in the primary election for the state's highest office on June 6.

Both Kim Guadagno and Phil Murphy will face off in November's general election, along with up to five independent candidates who submitted petitions to get on the ballot.

Murphy was widely favored to secure the nomination, but Guadagno's path was more competitive.  Both secured about 48% of the vote statewide.

31-Year-Old Somerset Man Charged With Groping Child in Store

FRANKLIN, NJ–A 31-year-old resident of Whittier Avenue, in the Somerset section of the Township, was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a four-year-old child, according to authorities.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office (SCPO) announced the charges, specifically second-degree sexual assault of a minor less than 13 years of age, and third-degree endangering welfare of a child, against David Lutz on May 26.

New Jersey Agrees to Lift Longstanding Ban on Stun Guns

TRENTON, NJ—Federal judge Michael A. Shipp issued an order stating that the state's ban on "stun guns" is an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, and should no longer be enforced by the state.

The case, NJ Second Amendment Society & Mark Cheeseman vs. New Jersey Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino & Superintendent of NJ State Police Col Rick Fuentes, was considered to be a large win for supporters of the Second Amendment.

Adult Learning Center Hosts Free Educational Event on Immigration

NEW BRUSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Adult Learning is hosting an event for New Brunswick parents and teachers to have any questions answered regarding immigration and its effects on education.

It will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 5:30 p.m. and located at the Adult Learning Center in Room 201.  The facility is located at 268 Baldwin Street in the same building that houses the school district's administrative offices.

The event is organized by the school district's employee union, the New Brunswick Education Association.

Sheriff del Condado criticada después de que sus oficiales cooperaron con el ICE en un arresto en el Tribunal de Justicia

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – El 1 de junio, el gobierno del condado de Middlesex aprobó una nueva política que limita la colaboración con agentes federales de inmigración, pero el Sheriff del condado no estuvo enterado de esto.

La nueva política se produce dos meses después de un incidente en el Tribunal de Justicia de New Brunswick donde un hombre fue esposado y entregado al Servicio de Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE) por agentes bajo la supervisión del Sheriff Mildred "Millie" Scott.
