Ex Inspector Jefe de Vivienda se declara culpable al cargo de cocaĂ­na involucrando un vehĂ­culo de la ciudad

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Mike Mahony , ex Inspector Jefe de Vivienda de la Ciudad, se declaró culpable de posesión "con intención de distribuir " a menos de media onza de cocaína el 17 de noviembre .

De acuerdo con la Oficina del Fiscal General, Mahony aceptó declararse culpable del cargo de "posesión del tercer grado de cocaína con intención de distribuir . "

US Military Gave Vehicles, Generators, Assault Rifles and More to Middlesex County Police Agencies

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In September and October, the city's police department received more than $243,000 worth of equipment from the US Department of Defense, according to records made public by NJ.com.

Captain JT Miller, the spokesperson for the New Brunswick Police Department, confirmed that the city received a six-wheel-drive "utility truck/van."  According to the records, the turck is valued at $111,395.

VIDEO: Without Saying His Name, Board Censures Edison Mayor For Violating Code of Ethics

EDISON, NJ—In a bizarre proceeding held largely in secret, a majority of the Township's Ethics Board came to the conclusion that Mayor Thomas Lankey had violated the state's ethics law.

The board met privately for over an hour before taking a surprising 4-0 vote that Lankey had violated the law by accepting free legal representation from the town's official attorney in a personal matter.

But by a 5-1 vote, the board also opted not to fine Lankey, a part-time mayor who also works at JFK Hospital.

Thousands Run Annual Big Chill 5K Race Through Sixth Ward

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—More than 8,300 participants registered for this year’s 12th Annual Big Chill 5K, the second largest road race in the state.

But the total is expected to reach at least 9,300 when walkers and runners finally line up this morning at 9 a.m. to start the race.

“We typically get 1,000 between Friday and Saturday, so we expect about 500 today to register,” Race Director, Anne Finetto, told New Brunswick Today before the Friday afternoon on-site registraton and packet pick-up at the College Avenue Gym began.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—El superintendente, Richard Kaplan, confirmó que el distrito escolar de New Brunswick que uno de sus vicepresidentes ha sido suspendido con sueldo después de su arresto.

Lester Voorhees, Vicepresidente de la Escuela Mckinley, ha sido arrestado el viernes, 21 de noviembre, por conduciendo ebrio y posesión de mariguana y cocaína, junto con 13 cargos en total, según el Capitán de la Policía, JT Miller.

Historic Joyce Kilmer House Open for Tours on December 6

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Saturday, December 6 brings the once in a year opportunity to the home of one of New Brunswick's most famous writers and residents, Joyce Kilmer.

The house, located at 17 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, at the corner with Welton Street, will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM for touring in observance of his 126th birthday.

Hosted by the New Brunswick Historical Association, admission and tours will be free.
