New Brunswick Rock Trio Releases First Full-Length Album

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Another product of the basement scene here in Hub City is the budding rock trio known as Atlas Bloom, one of the many bands making a name for themselves in New Brunswick.

With catchy, guitar rythyms reminiscent of surf rock, combined with upbeat timing and melodies, Atlas Bloom delivers a full sound with just three members.

Atlas Bloom's first full-length LP entitled "First Light" includes that full sound and some great melodic hooks.

New Brunswick Band Making Big Strides In Los Angeles

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In late January, a local New Brunswick- based band, Lovelectric, recorded and rubbed elbows with some big industry names in the hopes of propelling their music into the commerical world of movie soundtracks, TV shows, and commercials. 

The band has been working together for around a year under the Lovelectric monacre and is comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Doug Rockwell, bassist Devin Enright, guitarist and vocalist Jordan Sciabica, and drummer Craig Leibowitz.

Fraternity of Deceased Student to Hold Candlelight Vigil at Brower Commons Tonight

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tonight at 9pm, the Rutgers chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity will hold a candlelight vigil for their recently-slain brother William R. McCaw.

The vigil will be held on College Avenue, on the steps of the Brower Commons Dining Hall.  Anyone who would like to attend is encouraged to do so and join in the ceremony to honor McCaw's short life.

New Brunswick Man Shot In Finger During Armed Robbery in Jersey Avenue Apartment

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–According to authorities,  two men wearing masks entered an apartment at 14 Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick and shot one of the residents around 7:30pm on Friday, January 24.

The apartment is located above Mi Tierra bar, at the corner of Jersey Ave. and Handy Street.

After entering the home, the suspects demanded money from the the victim, and after he refused to comply, one suspect revealed a silver handgun and fired a single shot, which hit the victim's finger.

Electricity Restored After Two-Hour Outage

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—After over two hours, power has been restored to thousands of customers without electricity. 

At around 11:30 am, power went out in the 5th and 6th wards of New Brunswick, as well as in Franklin, North Brunswick, and parts of the College Avenue Campus. 

The power outage was due to failure in one of their substations. 

The outage had also affected St. Peter's Hospital, which kicked in the use of its back-up generators during the two hours.
