Rutgers Silent on Spike in Crime Alerts For Robberies Near Campus

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—From June through August, there were only five crimes that the Rutgers University Police Department reported to students through their recently overhauled campuswide notification program.

But the crime alerts are coming in much more frequently now.  In the past week alone, students and other community members have been alerted to three different armed robbery attempts in the same general area. And it's not clear how many other similar situations have not generated crime alerts.

Dr. Ruth Discusses Sexuality with Rutgers Students in Honorary Lecture

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On October 21, famed psychosexual therapist, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, paid a visit to the Douglass Student Center to give a lecture on her much renowned expertise in psychology and sexuality. 

"Dr. Ruth" made her claim to fame on her radio talk show, which eventually became televised, and is considered an expert in the psychology of sex and sexuality between people.  She has published over 30 books throughout her career on the subject.

Punk Legend Chuck Ragan Performing At The Court Tavern

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—With his signature brand of Springsteen-styled raspy vocals, and a massive catalog made up of foot-stomp-enducing classics, Chuck Ragan is a staple within the punk and folk scenes nationwide. 

And this Saturday, October 25, Ragan will be coming to the Hub City to perform in New Brunswick's famous Court Tavern.  Doors will open at 7pm.

Rare Exhibit of Famous Murder Case From 92 Years Ago on Display at Somerset County Courthouse

SOMERVILLE, NJ–On Friday, October 10, the Somerset County Courthouse will begin displaying an exhibit highlighting a famous muder case that captivated both the City of New Brunswick and Franklin Township more than 92 years ago.

The unveiling of the exhibit will take place in the Jury Assembly Room of the courthouse, located at 20 North Bridge Street, from 2 to 5pm.

Bound Brook Man Injured, Five Men From Edison Arrested In French Street Stabbing

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—According to a press release from the New Brunswick Police Department, at approximately 2:15am this morning, New Brunswick police responded to a reported stabbing that occurred in the area of French Street and Bayard Street.

The victim, who has been identified as 27-year-old Cheniz Lopez, of Bound Brook, New Jersey, received several stab wounds on the left side of his body as well as lacerations on his face.
