Worker Rights Organization and Rutgers University Garner Three Federal OSHA Grants

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Labor, a nonprofit community organization and local leader in the national campaign for just and humane immigration reform was awarded a $164,980 grant by the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administatrion on September 8.

Rutgers University and its School of Public Health are two other local recipients of funding through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program.  The amounts are $171,000, and 140,000 respectively.

6th Annual 5K Run at RU Stadium Raises Funds For Rutgers Against Hunger

PISCATAWAY, NJ—The "Run for RAH," a USATF-certified 5K race and 1-mile Fun Walk will take place for the sixth consecutive year this Sunday, October 26, beginning at the North Gate of the Rutgers football stadium.

The event, sponsored by the Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA), supports Rutgers against Hunger (RAH), a university-wide initiative fighting the problem of hunger throughout New Jersey, and kicks off a week of festivities for the school's annual Homecoming celebration.

Johnson & Johnson Seeks Buyer For Cordis Medical Device Unit

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Johnson & Johnson (J&J), the Hub City-based multinational pharmaceutical company is seeking a buyer for its Bridgewater-based Cordis medical device unit.

Cordis employes 5,000 people and makes vascular medical devices and is said to have created the market for drug-coated heart stents. The global market for cardiac stents is roughly $5 billion. But according to published reports, Cordis is struggling.

Fundraiser Race in Buccleuch Park to Benefit Brain Aneurysm Foundation and RWJ

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital are raising funds to fight brain aneurysms, and launching a new annual 5K run and 1.5 mile walk to do it.

The inaugural run/walk will take place this Saturday, September 20, in Buccleuch Park.  On-site registration for either the run or walk begins at Buccleuch Park at 7am. The 5K will start at 8 a.m., and the 1.5-mile walk will start at 9 a.m.
