Johnson & Johnson Faces More Lawsuits For Allegedly Faulty Products

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is facing a new round of lawsuits over its Depuy unit’s metal-on-metal version of the pinnacle hip, a type of implant that has been blamed for poisoning patients.

The world’s largest healthcare company is beginning its first trial on allegations that the hip implants were defectively designed and caused metal debris to leech into patients’ bloodstreams.

10th Annual Jimmy D 5K Races Up and Down Joyce Kilmer Avenue For Final Time

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — It never rained once during any of the ten annual 5K road races organized to celebrate the life of James D'heron, a Deputy Fire Chief who was killed in the line of duty after saving the lives of 15 people in 2004.

His family says it's proof that the deceased local hero, "Jimmy D," was watching over each of the events, which have raised tens of thousands of dollars for a charity that helps young burn victims.

J&J Issues Voluntary Recall For Medical Device on Heels of Stock Buyback Announcement

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ —On Wednesday Johnson & Johnson issued a voluntary worldwide recall of its power morcellators, a device commonly used in hysterectomies to shred tissue into smaller pieces, because of the risk of spreading undetected cancer when morcellation is performed.

New research released last week showed that the surgical devices can spread more types of cancer in a woman’s body than previously thought.

Rutgers Med School Signs Affiliation Agreement With St. Peter’s Hospital

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—As the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) school enters its second year, the school has signed an affiliation agreement with Saint Peter’s Healthcare System.

The deal means that RBHS, the umbrella organization for the schools acquired by Rutgers University in a 2013 merger with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), now has partnerships with both of New Brunswick's major hospitals.

J&J to Pay Oregon $4M to Resolve Deceptive Marketing Claims Over Recalled Hip Implants

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–City-based Johnson & Johnson (J&J) will pay Oregon $4 million to resolve deceptive marketing claims over recalled metal-on-metal hip implants, according to published reports.

In the agreement announced last Wednesday, the settlement will only be a fraction of the $2.47 billion that J&J already said it would pay last year to resolve about 8,000 U.S. suits against its DePuy unit, the maker of the implants.
