New Brunswick Resident Completes 100-Mile Endurance Run

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—It took five years for 29-year-old Megan McGrath to finally get picked in a lottery to be able to participate in Saturday’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile trail race in the world: The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run.

But it was all worth it for McGrath, a New Brunswick resident who traveled to California for the race, and crossed the finish line early yesterday morning after 22 hours, 23 minutes, and 20 seconds.

J&J CEO Participates in White House Summit on Working Families

WASHINGTON, DC—Johnson and Johnson (J&J) CEO Alex Gorsky was one of several business executives who met with President Barack Obama on Monday to discuss ways to encourage companies to make their work places more family-friendly.

During the White House "summit on working families," a panel of leaders, including Gorsky and Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein discussed ways of making U.S. work places more accommodating for employees who have children or who are starting families.

5K Summer Series Kicks Off in Highland Park After Six-Year Stint in New Brunswick

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—Race number one of the 31st annual Raritan Valley Road Runners (RVRR) 5K Cross Country Series kicked off this week in Highland Park’s 90-acre Donaldson Park, across the river from the Hub City.

The summer series includes four 5K’s, with a "Youth Development Running Series" held before each race, taking place over four Tuesday evenings in June and July.  The remaning dates this season are: June 24, July 8, and July 22.

Johnson & Johnson Suspends Sales of Tool Used in Fibroid Surgery Over Cancer Risk

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Healthcare conglomerate, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), is suspending worldwide sales, distribution, and promotion of its laroscopic power morcellators but is not permanently pulling them from the market.

A morcellator is a surgical instrument used for division, or “morcellation,” and removal of large masses of tissues during laparoscopic surgery.

The company said it is suspending the sale of its morecellators until their role in fibroid treatment is better understood by the medical community.
