NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Healthcare conglomerate, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), is suspending worldwide sales, distribution, and promotion of its laroscopic power morcellators but is not permanently pulling them from the market.

A morcellator is a surgical instrument used for division, or “morcellation,” and removal of large masses of tissues during laparoscopic surgery.

The company said it is suspending the sale of its morecellators until their role in fibroid treatment is better understood by the medical community.

PISCATAWAY, NJ—The second annual New Jersey Health Care Industry Week, held during National Public Health Week, opened with a free job fair on April 7 at Rutgers Univeristy's  Busch Campus Center.

More than 30 employers were on site networking with more than 300 attendees interested in exploring healthcare professions.

The job fair focused on making people aware of opportunities in behavioral health and was the first of five events scheduled around the state last week.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Johnson and Johnson (J&J) accepted a $4.16 billion offer from global private equity firm, The Carlyle Group, on March 31, to buy one of its largest units, thereby meeting the deadline to make a deal on the very day it was set to expire.

Over a year ago J&J disclosed that it would sell its blood diagnostics division, Raritan-based Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (OCD), which screens donated blood for infection and makes diagnostic tests for AIDS.

PISCATAWAY, NJ—For the second consecutive year, Sky Blue FC, a professional soccer team in the National Women’s Soccer League will play its home matches at Rutgers University’s Yurcak Field again this season.

The home opener is scheduled for April 19 at 7 pm, against the Portland Thorns FC.

“Sky Blue FC will once again call Yurcak Field 'home' this season as the club returns to the Rutgers University facility in Piscataway, NJ,” stated an announcement on the club's website.
