Potential DEVCO-NBPA Deal to Redevelop Ferren Deck Means Uncertain Future For Paterson St.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—As the final storefront in Ferren Mall closes, the powerful government agency that owns the vacant structure has entered into an agreement with a developer to market their prime real estate.

On the April 21 New Brunswick Parking Authority (NBPA) Board of Commissioners meeting, the board approved an exclusive marketing deal to let the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) recruit tenants for potential large-scale developments on the large site.

Woman Who May Have Jumped From 12-Story NBPA Parking Garage Worked at RWJ Hospital

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A 50-year-old woman from Burlington County who authorities say jumped to her death from the top of the Plum Street Parking Deck two weeks ago has been identified by NJ.com's Anthony Attrino.

According to a police report obtained by Attrino, the woman was a nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, located across the street from the 12-story parking garage.

Summer Marks Season of City Road Repairs After Rough Winter

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The City of New Brunswick has begun an array of much-needed repairs across the city.

Over the course of the summer, the Department of Public Works will be closing off and repairing parts of Commercial Avenue, Georges Road, Suydam Street, and Hamilton Street, one of the roads most in need of repair citywide.

For two weeks this month, Georges Road will undergo repairs.

Local Democrats Face Off in Freeholder Election

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Today, June 3, Middlesex County residents will vote in primary elections, but there will be few choices on the ballots for either party.

In the primary election of the Democratic Party, which unaniomously controls the county's Board of Chosen Freeholders, voters will choose between three candidates seeking two open seats on the seven-member board.

Incumbent Freeholders Charles Tomaro and Carol Barrett will be running against political newcomer Jay Mody.

Annual Summer Film Festival Kicks Off at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Thursday, May 29, Rutgers annual summer film festival began with a screening of Steven Speilberg's "Jaws" in Scott Hall.

A joint venture between the Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center brings film festivals to campus each spring, summer and fall, featuring dozens of films,  as well as lectures, workshops and panels on cinematic and the film industry.

Kean and LeGrand Speak at Rutgers Commencement Ceremony

PISCATAWAY, NJ—Yesterday, Rutgers University hosted its largest commencement ceremony in the school's 248-year history, graduating over 16,000 students in total at the school's football stadium.

Local hero Eric LeGrand, a Rutgers football player whose career-ending spinal cord injury left him paralyzed, was among the graduating class, and given the floor to address his classmates.
