MCPO Kept Connected Cop’s Arrest Quiet For More Than Six Weeks

SAYREVILLE, NJ—County law enforcement is being unusually quiet about a Sayreville police officer that was caught covering up his patrol car's on-board camera for reasons that remain unclear, according to a document obtained by New Brunswick Today.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) has been known for its secrecy, especially in cases where fellow law enforcement officers are the defendants, but this case stands out among the rest.

38th Annual Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk Honors the Fallen

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ–“Welcome to the start!” Race Director, Lou Ann Benson, told about 175 runners and walkers in North Brunswick Community Park at the 38th Annual Memorial Day 5K on Monday.

“Bring the sunshine with you out on the course today,” said Benson.

As the director of parks, recreation and community services for North Brunswick Township, Benson has overseen the event many times before.

Once The City’s Top Athlete, an Embattled Firefighter Passes Away

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Retired Hub City firefighter Dell Walker passed away on April 11 at the age of 55, leaving behind many friends and memories.

Walker had just recently quit the firefighter job, after more than a year of being suspended without pay, and he faced the prospect of several years in prison.

But, in the wake of his death, he was remembered by many in the community as one of the New Brunswick High School (NBHS) Zebras' best athletes of all-time.

Cancer Research Advocates Stopped Trump’s Cuts to Biomedical Research

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—President Donald Trump’s original budget proposal would reduce the National Institute of Health’s annual funding by $7 billion, a move that could negatively affect New Brunswick's major industry.

That was the message that U.S. Senator Robert Menendez hoped to send on April 12 when he visited the Rutgers Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, discussed the effect the budget would have on American citizens.

ICE Assists in Big Marijuana Bust at Warehouse in Metuchen

METUCHEN, NJ—Two men have been arrested and charged with operating a marijuana growing and distribution business, according to the authorities.

The two men were allegedly growing marijuana in a secluded warehouse located off of Liberty Street in Metuchen, near the Dismal Swamp Preserve and the borough's border with Edison Township.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey, and the Chiefs of the Metuchen and Monroe Police Departments jointly announced the bust on May 23.
