High Winds Cause Power Outage in Edison, Forcing BJ’s Wholesale Club to Close For Most of Day

EDISON, NJ–The BJ’s Wholesale Club on Route 1 in Edison Woods Shopping Center said, on April 3, they were only open about five minutes when “a blackout,” occurred just after the usual opening time of 9:00 a.m.

Traffic on Route 1 South in Edison, not far from Old Post Road, became a mess due to high winds, which knocked down utility poles, affecting traffic signals in the area.

Alternate Side Parking Rules in Effect From April Through October

Last year, we asked our readers to submit questions using a new online platform called NBToday Listens.  One anonymous reader asked us, "Why is alternate side street parking a thing?"  Here is our answer.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The city of New Brunswick uses a system known as "alternate side parking," which requires residents and visitors to refrain from parking vehicles one half of each street for a few hours every week, according to the times posted on signage around the city.

CEO Alex Gorsky is One of J&J’s Largest Insider Shareholders

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), is one of the largest insider shareholders in the Brunswick-based consumer and healthcare giant, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings.

“The insider owns 176,849 shares which have current market value of around $18,795,511,72 [as of March 11],” writes Tom Burr, on the website zergwatch.com.

Rutgers Star Corey Sanders to Declare for NBA Draft

LAKELAND, FL—Just over a week after Rutgers men's basketball hired its new head coach in Steve Pikiell, Scarlet Knights fans received more major news on March 31 when star freshman point guard Corey Sanders announced his intention to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft.

Sanders made his announcement on his Twitter page. He took a moment to thank his fans, writing "I would like to thank Rutgers University and everyone who has supported me on my journey!"

Review: “10 Hairy Legs” Dance Showcase at Crossroads

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJOn Saturday, March 26, the New Brunswick dance company 10 Hairy Legs held a showcase at Crossroads Theater.

The showcase featured five dancers and works by six separate composers.

Randy James, the company's founder, is always looking out for diverse pieces.

He says he's "often not interested by the end of the nights" when he goes to a show by a single choreographer.

Corefest Brings Underground Bands to Cook Campus

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On April 2, Piscataway-based radio station 90.3 The Core invites students and other local residents to attend their 5th annual music festival, this time at the Rutgers University Cook Student Center at 2:30pm.

The event, " Corefest," will take place at 59 Biel Road where students may purchase tickets for $10 with Rutgers ID and regular tickets will be sold for $15.
