Armed With Gun and Bat, Robbers Take Marijuana and Money From Prosper Street Home

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Three men forced their way into a Prosper Street residence on the night of April 26, bringing with them a firearm and a baseball bat, after the front door was opened in response to a knock at the door, according to a Rutgers University crime alert.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:29 PM, just two blocks away from the main campus of Rutgers.

Sentencing Keeps Getting Delayed For MCUA Treasurer Who Stole $57K From Government Agency

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The 67-year-old Ex-Treasurer of the Middlesex County Utilities Authority has admitted to stealing $57,000 from the Middlesex County Utilities between 2012 and 2014.

But almost five months after her guilty plea, Margaret Brennan still has not spent a moment in jail, thanks to the retirement of Judge Bradley Ferencz.

Judge Ferencz left his post as the county's Presiding Criminal Judge earlier this year, but not before scheduling the sentencing of Brennan for February 2, just a few days after he planned to leave office.

New Comic Book Shop Opens Above Sanctuary on Easton Avenue

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Comic Sanctuary, a new comic shop that opened in March of this year, is located at 135 Easton Avenue right above the popular restaurant Sanctuary

The owners of Comic Sanctuary Bryan Coe and Jackie Fellin are excited to be in the area and are ready to build their brand.

Coe explained, "This is our first time owning a business, Comic Sanctuary is all new. There was a comic book store in this location previously, but they relocated to a different town entirely back in January."

Rutgers Glee Club Hosts 143rd Annual Spring Concert

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Rutgers University Glee club will be hosting its 143rd Spring Concert, on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30pm.

The concert will be held on Rutgers' Douglass Campus, at the Nicholas Music Center, 85 George St, New Brunswick.

Classical music enthusiasts can enjoy the 80-member, all-male group's performing a number of diverse songs, in different languages.

The concert will feature songs sung in English, Estonian, Welsh, Russian, Latin, and Hindi.

Theatre Review: Autumn Springs Ahead at Crossroads

But theater also starts with a playwright and it’s his or her vision that drives a drama, comedy or tragedy into a cohesive stage work.  Nothing solidifies this concept more than Crossroads’ current production of Richard Wesley’s Autumn.

Student Pistol-Whipped During Home Invasion Robbery on Guilden Street

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a robbery where a college student was pistol-whipped, according to a Rutgers University crime alert.

The robbery took place at 1:47 a.m. on April 23 in an off-campus residence, on Guilden Street between Bristol and Prosper Streets.

According to the alert, the victims of this robbery reported hearing voices outside of their residence.  Upon checking the alleyway next to the residence, they discovered three male suspects wearing masks, it says.
