Old Bridge Walmart Closes For 10 Hours Due to Leaking Car Batteries

OLD BRIDGE, NJ–The newer of the two Walmarts in Old Bridge closed for at least 10 hours over the weekend of May 16-17 due to nine car batteries that were apparently damaged after falling off a shelf in the automotive department.

“There was a battery leak at which point the fire department was called. They recommended that we evacuate the store while our hazardous waste team came in for clean-up, which we did,” Aaron Mullins, a Walmart Spokesperson, told New Brunswick Today.

RUPD Officer Charged With Stealing $30,000 From Police Union

NEWARK, NJ—Grace Stewart, a police officer assigned to the Newark campus of Rutgers University, has been criminally charged with stealing $30,000 from the union that represents officers.

But the university has remained silent about her current status as an employee and a law enforcement officer despite repeated inquiries.

"She has been charged with theft of 30,000 dollars from the PBA," said Katherine Carter, spokesperson for the Essex County Prosectuor's Office.

J&J Biochemist Testifies Company Never Gave FDA Risperdal Safety Analysis It Knew About For Years

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–In two lawsuits alleging that Johnson & Johnson’s antipsychotic drug Risperdal caused boys to grow female breasts, a biochemist for the company testified that the Food Drug Administration (FDA) was never given an internal analysis showing a link between the two.

Ivo Caers, a VP of Neuroscience Development at Janseen Research & Development, has been employed with J&J for the past 36 years.

Convicted North Brunswick Worker Keeps Job After Getting Probation

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ—Mayor Mac Womack confirmed that a suspended Township employee who was charged with distributing drugs on the job can return to work as soon as he recovers from a "non-work-related" injury.

Michael Vitanza has worked as a laborer with the Township of North Brunswick's Department of Public Works until his December 2013 arrest in a State Police operation that took down a major drug and gun sales network.

Authorities said he was caught purchasing drugs while he was on the job.
