Towns Claim to Lack Authority to Take Down Red Light Cameras

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Even though the program that allowed them expired in December, dozens of red light cameras still quietly watch over intersections across New Jersey.

New Jersey's local governments are not allowed to take them down, according to public officials in two Middlesex County towns. 

The cameras no longer give tickets, but the only other difference is that affected intersections now lack signs reading, "red light photo enforced."

Freeholders Approve Land Deal That Benefits Retired Judge

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders unanimously approved a questionable land deal involving the potentially contaminated and undevelopable forest land of a retired judge and political insider.

The deal is for the county to spend $360,000 in open space trust fund taxes to buy land partly owned by Barnett E. Hoffman, Esq., a Democratic Party insider and retired Middlesex County judge.

Ocean County Police Seeking Rutgers Student Wanted For Credit Card Fraud

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Stafford Township Police Department has issued a $50,000 arrest warrant for Rutgers student Terence Flaherty, a 28-year-old resident of New Brunswick.

According to the Stafford Police, Flaherty is wanted for credit card fraud and theft.  Flaherty, a white male, has not been located at his New Brunswick address.

Flaherty has been known to frequent Morris Plains, Barnegat Township, and the New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University, according to authorities.

Wegmans Recalls Frozen Organic Spinach Over Listeria Concerns

WOODBRIDGE, NJ–Wegmans has recalled more than 12,000 packages of its own 12-ounce "Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Frozen Spinach" (UPC 77890-32932), due to possible listeria contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.

The product was sold in the frozen food department of the company’s 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts between January 27 and March 21.
