One of Two Robbery Suspects Arrested in X-Box Sale Gone Wrong

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police announced the arrest of Jerome Powell, a 21-year-old man from Camden, who was identified as one of two suspects in a  February 2 robbery at 55 Morrell Street, an off-campus apartment complex.

According to a New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) news release, Powell went to Morrell Street with the intent to purchase an X-Box from the resident who was attempting to sell it.

50 Years After His Murder, Rutgers Organization to Honor Malcolm X

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Born Malcolm Little and best known as Malcolm X, El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was a faith leader and activist who participated in various human rights movements advocating for the prosperity and welfare of Black people and rejecting ideas of racism, capitalism and inequality.

February 21 marked 50 years since the Malcom X was assassinated in New York City, and supporters in New Brunswick are planning to hold an event in his memory.

Edison First-Grade Teacher Charged After Alleged Underage Drinking Party at Her Home

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ–A first-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Edison was arrested February 14 after an investigation by South Brunswick Police into a party at her house the night before.

Tracey Harding, also known as Tracey Stricker, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a second-degree crime punishable by 5-10 years in prison, after a 15 year-old male was allegedly found highly intoxicated in the basement of her Homestead Lane residence.

No Explanation For Late-Night NBPD Parking Announcements

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–City police made a lot of noise until about 1am on February 17, alerting residents on main roads that their cars would be ticketed and towed if they were not moved to facilitate plowing operations.

The storm was predicted long before the NBPD set out on their mission, and the city announced the "snow emergency" via their Nixle emergency alert system at 8:35pm.

NJDOT Reviewing Crash Involving 40 Vehicles on NJ Turnpike

CRANBURY, NJ–The fallout continues from the New Jersey Turnpike's multiple simultaneous pileups on February 9. 

The day after the crashes, the state transportation commissioner and Turnpike Authority chairman, Jamie Fox, ordered a review of the incidents.

The review is examining the factors that caused the mega-crashes, including execution of the Turnpike Authority's winter weather plan, the signs that were posted, vehicle speed, the time that speed limits were lowered, and road conditions.
