On Presidential Campaign Trail, Christie to Visit Hub City

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Jersey Governor and 2016 presidential candidate Chris Christie is set to hold a press conference at the Rutgers Chabad House on Tuesday, August 25, at 11 am.

The event marks the first time Christie will be making a public appearance in New Brunswick since he declared his candidacy for President, and his second appearance in the Hub City this year.

This year, the Governor has spent a majority of his time out-of-state in pursuit of his presidential aspirations.

Green Party Candidate For US President Visits New Brunswick For Second Time This Year

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein visited New Brunswick on the weekend of August 15-16 to talk to concerned residents about her presidential platform and about the Green Party in general.

Stein is a medical doctor from Massachusetts who says she now practices "political medicine" because modern-day politics is the most serious illness affecting everyday Americans.  She has previously run for Governor of Massachusetts in 2002, and made her first Presidential run in 2012.

Aldi Supermarket Holds Hiring Event in Piscataway

PISCATAWAY, NJ–International supermarket chain Aldi has dubbed August “National Hiring Month” and the “low-price grocery leader” says it’s looking to fill some 2,500 Store Associate, Shift Manager and Manager Trainee positions across the country.

The chain boasts more than 1,300 locations in 32 states, including the Aldi Food Market on Van Dyke Avenue in New Brunswick.

That store is currently looking for store associates and held a recruiting event on August 11.

Special Event to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Friday, August 21, Tumulty’s Pub is hosting a special event to promote opposition to human trafficking occurring all over the world.

The event, entitled “Night for a New Day,” will run from 8:00 p.m. until midnight in the basement of the pub, located at 361 George Street.

It will be hosted by local musician and artist Silent Knight, from The Band Called Fuse, and will feature musical performances from Highland Society, Sad Lips, and Foxanne.

Environmental Investigation Underway at Construction Site Where Grease Trucks Once Parked

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—An environmental investigation into contaminated groundwater is reportedly underway on "Lot 8," the former site of the city's famous grease trucks.

Presently an active construction site, the property was once home of the Johnson family mansion, before it became a fraternity house that was bulldozed and turned into a parking lot in the 1960's.

In 2016, Rutgers will be opening a 15-story privatized dormitory in conjunction with New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO).

NBPD Captain Defends Aggressive Officers After New Federal Lawsuit

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A captain with the New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) defended a detective who has once again been accused of falsely arresting and imprisoning a young man for more than four months.

Captain William Milligan did not hesitate to admit that there a number of "aggressive officers" on the force, and argued that those officers naturally get more complaints and lawsuits.

Saint Peter’s Hospital Wound Care Center Awarded For Excellence

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Healogics, Inc, the nation’s leading wound care management company, has given an excellence award to Saint Peter’s University Hospital Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Services.

The hospital’s Wound Care center is one of only 88 out of the 635 wound care centers in the country to earn this distinction, known as the Robert A. Warriner, MD Center of Excellence Award.
