Paterson School Official Hired as New Superintendent in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Amid an emotional farewell to graduating students, retiring teachers, and the district's top administrator, the New Brunswick Board of Education confirmed Aubrey Johnson to be the district's next Supeintendent at their meeting on June 16.

Johnson, an administrator in the Paterson school district, will start his new job on July 1, where he will be paid a $177,500 annual salary.

Key Food Supermarket Hiring Workers

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Key Foods is hiring, and it will be a union shop, according to signs taped to the windows at the city's Health and Wellness Plaza, the former home of FreshGrocer.

Applications will be accepted at the building, located at 100 Kirkpatrick Street in downtown, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19.

Bill Could Expand Addiction Recovery High School Program

TRENTON, NJ—The state government could expand its recovery high school program under a bill which cleared the General Assembly on June 11 and the Senate on May 18.

The recovery high school pilot program was established on Kean University's campus under Senate Bill 2058, passed in 2014.  The law created the first school in the state that focused on recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

NBPD Investigating Shots Fired Following a Fight at Wright Place

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City police responded to the Schwartz-Robeson public housing neighborhood in the Fourth Ward after a report of at least three shots fired on June 17.

The incident occurred following a fight in the neighborhood, located between Van Dyke and Quentin Avenues, according to New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) radio transmissions.

"About an hour ago, there was a [disturbance] there," said a dispatcher, who noted there were five to ten people who called police when the shots were fired at approximately 6:10pm.

New Johnson & Johnson Museum to Open in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–A new Johnson & Johnson musuem is scheduled to open late 2016, set to coincide with the company's 130th year aniversary in the Hub City,

The musuem will hold the artifacts that helped create the Johnson & Johnson company, perhaps most famous for BAND-AID brand bandages, as well as show the history of the characters who helped form the company.

A large banner on display at the company's worldwide headquarters reads "The New Johnson & Johnson Museum!"

VIDEO: Off-Duty Rutgers EMS Worker Hits Speeds Over 140MPH on Public Highway

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating whether or not an officer may have helped shut down a public roadway to enable an off-duty EMT to drive his private vehicle at speeds in excess of 140mph.

Christopher Murray, a recent hire at Rutgers Emergency Services, posted a video of himself driving a car on a public road at what appears to be well over 100mph.
