Musician Remembers His Dad James Brown and Growing Up in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Daryl Brown, a musician, producer, artist, and son of the late James Brown met with fans and members of the press yesterday evening at Delta's restaraunt on Dennis Street.

Brown released his new book, "My Father the Godfather," in July 2014. During a two-month promotional tour, Brown made sure to stop by his original hometown to sign books and take pictures at the Dennis Street restaraunt and bar.

March in Response to Police Brutality Against Unarmed Citizens

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Since the August 9 shooting death of an unarmed 18-year-old man named Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the greater New Brunswick community has been actively organizing peaceful events to protest, organize, and educate about issues of police violence and race relations.

Community leaders scheduled a peaceful march starting at 7pm tonight, August 21.  The march will begin at 211 Woodbridge Avenue in Highland Park and travel along Route 27,  into the City of New Brunswick.

VIDEO: DEVCO “Drone” Reaches New Heights in Hub City

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—As commercial uses of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's) continue to make headlines, the city's own private non-profit developer recently published a new video recorded by a DJI Phantom, a popular brand of remote controlled quadricopters.

Ominous music accompanies stunning shots of buildings erected by New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO), including the Heldrich Hotel on George Street, and the Gateway Center on Somerset Street.

Fiesta Comunitaria Celebrando la InauguraciĂłn del Centro Comunitario en Remsen Avenue

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— El nuevo Centro Comunitario Unity Square tuvo una ceremonia de inauguración el Jueves en 81 Remsen Avenue en la esquina con Suydam Street, sitio de una anterior estación de bomberos.

Y Viernes, 13 de junio, visitantes al nuevo centro pueden disfrutar a una presentación pública del primer partido de la selección Mexicana en el mundial a las 12:00 pm. Más tarde, habrá una fiesta comunitaria en la calle enfrente del centro.

Expressions of Self and Soul at Hidden Grounds

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Tonight, from 7pm until 9pm,there will be a free open mic at Hidden Grounds coffee shop at 106 Easton Avenue, the latest in a series of similar events.

"Expressions of Self and Soul" invites all performing artists to the stage. The event welcomes all styles including spoken word poetry, comedy, Neo Soul, reggae, open jam, and hip hop.

For the past seven months, local artist and proud father Ptah Ennead Aten has been hosting these open mic style events all over town.

Rush Holt Speech and Union Protest Among Highlights of Rutgers SEBS Graduation Ceremony

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On May 19, thousands of students, faculty, family members, and friends gathered near Passion Puddle on a beautiful day to celebrate the 2014 Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Science convocation.

The event was a "Bring Your Own Lawn Chair" event for the families and friends of the graduates.

Rush Holt was the keynote speaker that day, addressing the students with his take on the Dr. Seuss title, "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"
