City Man Arrested in Ohio, Charged in Fatal Drive-By Shooting

COLUMBUS, OH—Authorities announced that a third suspect was being held in Ohio's capital city on charges of murder and the conspiracy to possess a handgun related to a fatal shooting in New Brunswick.

Following an investigation that involved the US Marshalls, 19-year-old city resident Steven Perez was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 2:25 p.m. at a house in Columbus, Ohio.

Perez was charged in the drive-by shooting death of Raheem Fuqua, a 30-year-old man who was shot outside his home on Seaman Street on March 1.

Preparation Can Be Key to Surviving Hurricanes and Other Storms

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Last October, a total of 24 states were rocked by the Category 3 Hurricane Sandy.  Of course, New Jersey and New York were two of hardest hit.

A year earlier, in August 2011, Hurricane Irene made its way up the eastern seaboard, slamming New Jersey as a Tropical Storm.

Both times, areas near Route 18 and the intersection of Joyce Kilmer Av. and Charles St. sufferred heavy flooding, and power outages caused problems citywide.  Sandy caused atleast $29.4 billion worth of damage in New Jersey alone.

New Brunswick Man Sentenced to Four Years in Jail For Multi-Million Dollar Identity Theft Scheme

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–New Brunswick resident Manuel Rodriguez, age 50, has been sentenced to 48 months in a federal prison for what officials have called one of the largest and longest running stolen identity refund-fraud schemes.

The U.S. Attorney's Office released a statement on September 19 announcing that the 5 year scheme caused roughly 8,000 fraudulent income tax returns to be filed, resulting in a loss of more than $11.3 million to the United States Government.

Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6 in Theatre District

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The public is invited to officially kick off to the holiday season on Friday, December 6, as the New Brunswick City Market hosts their 21st Annual Tree lighting and chili cook-off.

The festivities will be held on the corner of Livingston Avenue and George Street, in front of Monument Square from 5pm-7pm.

The free family-friendly event will host local vendors and include live music and dance performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a visit from Santa Claus.

World of Beer Offers 500 Beers at Former Soho on George Location

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—World of Beer, a new chain bar and restaurant has been catching eyes on George Street for many weeks now.  And today, it will open to the public for the first time at noon, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 6pm.

The chain, which started in Tampa, Florida, has over 50 locations in the US and is planning to expand to Albany, Syracuse, Philadelphia, and Princeton in the near future.  The New Brunswick store represents the first World of Beer in the Northeast
