NBHA se Niega a Admitir Que su Sede Fue Impactada Por Una Balacera

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ- La sede de la Autoridad de Vivienda de la ciudad fue impactada por una balacera el 31 de agosto, pero la Junta de Comisionados de esta agencia se negó a reconocer aquel incidente durante su reunión del 28 de septiembre.

"No podemos comentar sobre asuntos de ese tipo porque son investigaciones activas en curso y son casos que la policía ha traído," dijo el Director Ejecutivo de NBHA, John Clarke, enviando una pregunta acerca del daño al edificio casi un mes después.

Milltown Oil Spill Forces City to Halt Use of Drinking Water Source

MILLTOWN, NJ—The botched demolition of an old tire factory in Milltown caused an oil spill that forced the embattled New Brunswick Water Utility to shut down one of its two pumping stations for more than six weeks.

A follow-up investigation by New Brunswick Today has discovered that one of the parties being held responsible for the October 4 spill is a company led by a convicted felon who pled guilty to federal crimes in a 2005 public corruption case.

Anti-Trump Movement at Rutgers Focuses on Immigration Issue

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In the wake of President-elect Donald Trump's anti-immigrant political rhetoric, a counter-celebration of America's diversity–and sharp opposition to his policies–has blossomed in the Hub City.

Protests showing support for immigrants–including one that drew well over a thousand people on November 16–have largely prioritized immigration in the aftermath of the election.

Two County Residents Arrested in Phone Scam Targeting Seniors

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ—Two county residents were arrested on November 18 on charges they were part of a "nationwide ring that scammed 19 senior citizens out of cash totaling $45,500," according to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO).

It was actually a Detective from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office (UCPO), Dennis Donavan, who first discovered the scam after a Maryland resident reported he had been cheated.

NBPD Arrests Three in Connection With Fire Behind Frathouse

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police believe that three individuals intentionally set fire to the area behind 14 Union Street, the Kappa Sigma fraternity house, on November 19 at approximately 7:43pm.

The fire started about 15 minutes prior to the start of the Rutgers vs. Penn State University football game.

According to the New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) news release, nine vehicles, a storage bin, and some trash were engulfed in flames.
