Rutgers Summer Program Continues to Inspire Scientists of Tomorrow

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Roughly 70 high school students – from New Brunswick, Newark, Paterson, Passaic, Rahway and Trenton – took part in Rutgers’ 8th Annual 4-H Summer Science Program in July.

Students, three of which were from New Brunswick, had the chance to participate in hands-on activities at Rutgers New Brunswick’s Cook Student Center exploring a variety of subjects such as food science, marine and environmental sciences, and horticultural engineering.

Edison Man Who Allegedly Sold Fatal Doses of Heroin Indicted

EDISON,  NJ—Emile Constable Jr., a 25-year-old resident of Edison was indicted by a grand jury sitting in New Brunswick for his role in distributing heroin that killed another man, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say that the man sold 10 one-gram bags of heroin to the dead man, identified as 23-year-old Edison resident Aniq Ali in the first of two press releases issued by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) on the subject.

Responsible Investing Advocates Want McDonald’s to “Stop Supersizing Antibiotic Resistance”

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–A charity fighting to curtail the rise of dangerous, drug-resistant bacteria in milk and meat products served at all McDonald’s restaurants, announced a crowdsourcing campaign on August 4.

The charity, UK-based ShareAction, has a vision: all corporate investments should be socially responsible.

It's launched an online movement making it easy for people to email McDonald's Corp. CEO Steve Easterbrook and urge him to stop the regular use of antibiotics in the company’s global livestock supply chains.

Rutgers and Harvard Scientists Team Up to Investigate Consequences of Climate Change

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In his 2000 book "The Tipping Point," author Malcolm Gladwell summarized the characteristics of "tipping points" as being contagious and involving a large change that results from small changes and occurs quickly.

However, scientists at Rutgers University and Harvard University do not fully agree with that definition and attempted to clarify the terminology in a study published on July 11 by Earth's Future.
