OSHA Certifies Occupational Safety and Health Plan for NJ Government Workers

TRENTON, NJ–The Garden State recently became one of six states and territories with its own program for protecting the safety and health of state and local government workers.

The state plan, which covers more than 530,000 workers, took 16-years to finally become effective this year on January 22, after first being approved in 2001, according to a release from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).

Rutgers Office of Diversity and Academic Success in Sciences Celebrates 30 Years

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Office for Diversity and Academic Success in the Sciences (ODASIS) at Rutgers had a dinner on April 28 to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

ODASIS is an office, part of the Division of Life Sciences, that supports underrepresented Rutgers undergraduates pursue science careers.

It began in 1986 due to the efforts of Dr. Francine Essien, a Rutgers biology professor. She wanted to something about the numbers of minority and disadvantaged students who went on to attend medical school.

NBPD Recovers Handgun After Off-Duty Cop Pursues Vehicle Into North Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–New Brunswick police are still investigating a case that started with unidentified city officers pursuing a vehicle into North Brunswick on April 24. 

According to New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) Captain JT Miller, at approximately 6:47pm, NBPD officers "apprehended two individuals after a brief vehicle pursuit into North Brunswick."

"A handgun was recovered from the vehicle," said Miller who failed to identify the precise charges against the two suspects in the case.
