Permanent Housing Complex for Domestic Violence Survivors Opens in New Brunswick
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On February 11, community organizers and residents gathered for the ribbon cutting of Dina's Dwellings, a community complex in downtown New Brunswick that offers permanent and supportive housing for survivors of domestic violence.
This project was organized and created by Town Clock Community Development Corporation, led by Reverend Susan Kramer-Mills of the First Reformed Church.
Three Seats on New Brunswick School Board Up For Election
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–In what will be the fifth school board election in New Brunwick's history, voters may decide who is on the school board, or maybe not.
It depends whether anyone decides to run against the three incumbents, who said they plan to run for election or re-election in the April 19 election.
In order to run, school board members must get at least 10 signatures from registered voters in New Brunswick on a special candidate petition. The deadline to submit petitions is 4pm on Monday, February 29.
Crossroads Theatre Production Premieres on PBS
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Theater Close-Up, the "unique collaboration between PBS THIRTEEN and the large community of New York City area non-profit Off-Broadway theaters," will present its first regioinal production at Crossroads Theatre Company.
THIRTEEN is "one of America's most respected and innovative public media providers." Theater Close-Up is a program where Off-Broadway shows are filmed and presented on television.
Robberies at Gunpoint and Assaults With Knives Happen on Weekly Basis in New Brunswick
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Over the past two years, the city has seen a sharp increase in both assaults and robberies where the weapon used was a gun, according to State Police statistics.
Violent crime continues to be a problem for the City of New Brunswick, according to residents, police radio transmissions, and new statistics released by the NJ State Police.
