Over 2 Years After Ex-Cop Got Arrested in Mahony Case, It’s Still Not Clear Who is Prosecuting Him

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Scott Campion, one of three public employees arrested in a 2013 NJ State Police takedown of a cocaine and weapons sales operation, resigned his job as a dispatcher at the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office on March 20, 2015.

It was the second time he had resigned from the law enforcement agency, according to multiple sources.  The first time he left the department, he was forced to give up his badge and gun, after pointing that gun at a waitress in an Edison restaurant.

Charles Street Bakery Expansion Approved by Planning Board

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On December 8, the New Brunswick Planning Board approved the expansion of the Scala Bakery, which has been located at 10 Charles Street for more than two decades.

Landowner Ronald Struminger, who also owns the nearby Foodtown supermarket, intends to demolish the current 2.5 story house, as the owner's bakery needs room in which to grow.

A storage trailer has already been removed. The bakery's first-floor space will grow by 1,033 square feet with an addition to the bakery's front.

Three Hub City Institutions Nominated for Discover Jersey Arts Awards

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Discovery Jersey Arts, a cosponsored project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the ArtPride of New Jersey Foundation, is holding their annual People’s Choice Awards.

Three of New Brunswick’s own institutions, The New Jersey Film Festival, George Street Playhouse, and the State Theatre, are among a handful of organizations honored with nominations for 2016.

Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders 2016 Meeting Schedule

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders is getting back to business in 2016, after hosting its reorganization meeting on January 6.

A largely ceremonial affair to swear in newly elected or re-elected members, the reorganization meeting is a forum to set the committees for the year to come and appoint the county's Freeholder director, as well as give the officials-elect an opportunity to speak on their goals for the coming year.
