State and Federal Transportation Trust Funds Teeter on Edge of Bankruptcy

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—While highway and transit funding in New Jersey has been granted a temporary reprieve, the clock is still ticking as the funds responsible for powering infrastructure construction dry up.

Both the federal and state "transportation trust funds" were designed to rely on gas taxes, but in recent years, increasing construction costs have combined with a flat tax on gas to cause a fiscal imbalance.

Amid Protests and Calls For His Resignation, Chris Christie Announces Bid For President

LIVINGSTON, NJ–Governor Chris Christie officially announced June 30 something that many people had already assumed: that he would be running for President in the 2016 Republican primary election.

Christie made the announcement with a speech at his alma mater, Livingston High School.

During his speech Christie, a 52-year-old former federal prosecutor who was first elected Governor in 2009, promised to run a campaign without spin, pandering or “focus group tested answers.”

Young Man Fatally Stabbed in Late-Night Fight at Suydam Street Restaurant

UPDATE (7/6): The Middlex County Prosecutor's has identified the victim and suspect in this tragic stabbing.

Authorities announced that 32-year-old Edgar Martinez was being held on $2 million bail, charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the death on July 4, 2015 of 20-year-old Jovanni Garcia-Elvira.

Police Radio: Assault Victim Found Bleeding Profusely on French Street, 2 Blocks From Scene of Crime

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Two intoxicated men from Princeton were robbed and assaulted while sitting on a porch on Seaman Street in the city's Fourth Ward at approximately 3:30am on June 30, according to a police press release.

But what was not mentioned in the release was that, according to police radio transmissions, one of the victims was found at least two blocks away from the scene of the crime.

The highlight of the weekend is sure to be a re-enactment of the original July 4, 1778 celebration ordered by George Washington.

"On the 4th of July in Buccleuch Park at 1:30 p.m. there will be a /feu de joie/ celebrating the 237th Anniversary of the original /feu de joie/ ordered by George Washington in 1778," wrote Bob Belvin, Director of the city's public library.
