Rutgers Professor Appointed to Board That Oversees Hazardous Waste Cleanup Consultants

TRENTON, NJ—Rutgers professor Peter F. Strom has been appointed to serve on the New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board (SRPLB), which plays crucial role in protecting New Jersey’s environment and cleaning up hazardous waste.

Strom, a Highland Park resident, has been appointed to be the academic community representative on the board, and has begun serving his four-year term this summer.

Police Radio: Four People Stabbed in Two Separate Late-Night Fights

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—During the early morning hours of August 2, at least four people were stabbed in New Brunswick as multiple fights broke out during a hot summer night.

Three people were stabbed on Redmond Street in the Fourth Ward, and at least one more person was stabbed just three hours later on Louis Street in the Sixth Ward, according to police radio transmissions.

But more than a day later, city officials have not responded to multiple phone and email messages about the stabbings.

New Brunswick Housing Authority Chairman Lives in Princeton

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Princeton resident Luis Gonzalez was named Chairman of the powerful New Brunswick Housing Authority Board of Commissioners on July 22.

The agency operates and manages a handful of public housing complexes in the city, but also plays a key role in real estate and construction, doubling as the city's "redevelopment agency."

Gonzalez, a senior financial aid officer for Rutgers University, does not meet a residency requirement to serve on the agency's board.
