Richard researched transportation, land use, history, and other topics. Investigated site plans. Attended public meetings (planning board, zoning board, parking authority board of directors, City Council) to record and help determine what was discussed. Analyzed blueprints and site plans to determine what land uses sites would be put to. Photographed sites that would be affected by proposed projects, as well as sites involved in news events. Employed Sketchup CAD to visualize new land uses, such as buildings and structures. Critiqued and wrote articles in fast-paced work environment, writing before deadlines. Made judgments as to what constituted proper material to include in articles. Created a zoning map; am working on ways to show it to the public. Consulted vintage maps to determine historic land uses.

Mack-Cali Buys Three Apartment Buildings in Downtown New Brunswick For $41.1M

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Real estate giant Mack-Cali announced on Thursday the $41.1 million acquisition of three apartment buildings containing a total of 200 residences in downtown New Brunswick.

The compounds in question are the Riverwatch Commons and Richmond Court, located on Hiram Square and Dennis Dennis Street respectively.  The properties are next to each other.

Sponsors Spent $83,780 to Help People Take Over 3 Miles of City Streets

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A bicycling festival held in many cities across the world known as Ciclovia wheeled its way into the Hub City for the first time on October 6, thanks to the support of seven sponsors who spent a total of $83,780.

Locals enjoyed the cloudy but pleasant day, playing sports and doing physical activities in the streets.  Kids and adults found themselves walking, running, and playing in the street as well as riding bikes, scooters, skates and other non-motorized transportation.

Long Island Bread Company Relocating to City, Building Eight Grain Silos Near Jersey Ave. Train Station

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Wenner Bread Products, a company based on Long Island, wants to convert a vacant building into a commercial bakery that they say will bring 250 jobs to New Brunswick.

The New Brunswick Planning Board approved a plan to expand the warehouse, add eight 50-foot tall grain silos, and install commercial breadmaking equipment, although most of the building is to remain a warehouse.

New Pay-by-Phone Option Offered at Every City Parking Meter

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Parkers can now pay by credit card at any parking meter in New Brunswick, including those without any credit card slots.

Last month, the New Brunswick Parking Authority implemented a pay-by-phone service, Parkmobile, to serve the 830 of the city's 1000 meters that have no slot for credit cards.  The system also works at the credit-card enabled meters as well as an NBPA lot on Somerset Street.
