North Brunswick Resident Shot at French Street Restaurant

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On January 10 at approximately 2am, a North Brunswick man was shot in the leg weilding a silver handgun in Camilo's restaurant, located at 114 French Street.

The gunman came into the restaurant demanding money from the register, and when one man handed over his wallet, an altercation broke out between that man and the suspect.

The North Brunswick resident, who was not identified,  came to the victim's aid, and was shot in the leg by the suspect.

Distinguished Rutgers Professor Passes Away at 88 Years Old

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Tuesday December 17th, legendary Rutgers professor Richard D. Heffner passed away of a cerebral anurism in his home in Manhattan at 88 years old.

A professor of communication and public policy for nearly 50 years, Heffner was one of the most well-known faculty members, and before his death, was teaching two classes at Rutgers: Mass Communication and The American Image, and Communication and Human Values.

This Weekend In Hub City: Holiday Market, Beer Tapping, and Phillipines Fundraiser

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—This weekend there is a lot going on in New Brunswick.

With the holidays right around the corner, the New Brunswick Community Arts Council to host their second annual Holiday Market at the George Street Playhouse (9 Livingston Ave.).

The market will feature several renowned merchants from the tri-state area, all of whom will be selling handmade crafts and products including clothing, jewelery, pottery, art, and glassware.  The event will go from 5pm to 9:30pm on Friday night.

New Jersey Rock Trio Coming to Old Bay Tonight

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tonight at The Old Bay restaurant, the Northern New Jersey blues and rock trio called Only Living Boy will be making a stop to rock New Brunswick. The music kicks off at 10pm at 61 Church Street.

Only Living Boy (OLB) is comprised of singer and guitarist Joe Cirotti, bassist Eric Curley, and drummer Trevor Newcomb.  Formed in 2008, the band has received accolades and positive reviews for their studio recordings and raw, unapologetic, and in-your-face live performances.

New Rutgers Class Explores Theology of Springsteen Lyrics

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Jersey's own Bruce Springsteen is widely considered to be one of the most prolific songwriters of the past few decades,  but next year academics at Rutgers will be exploring The Boss on a different level.

For the upcoming spring semester, Rutgers Universty has announced that they will offer one-credit course that will study the religious theology behind Springsteen's lyrics and the subject matter of his songs.
