NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Mondays this fall, the New Brunswick Public Library will be hosting a free “Young Athletes” program for children ages 2-7, sponsored by the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
The weekly program, which starts October 17, helps children improve gross motor skills, improve social and language skills, and develop skills for future participation in sports.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Middlesex County’s homeless rate has decreased nearly 24% over the last year, according to a recently released report on homelessness statewide.
The Point in Time County (PITC) survey, conducted annually across the state by Monarch Housing Associates, reported that overall New Jersey’s homeless rate has decreased 12% since 2015.
According to this year’s report, the number of homeless reported in Middlesex County reached a five-year low of 457.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Hundreds of homeless people visited Elijah's Promise soup kitchen on January 28 to be counted in the county's 2015 Point in Time Survey, an annual measurement of the homeless population in Middlesex County.
Last year, just over 1,400 homeless were counted at three locations in the county, the vast majority of them at the New Brunswick soup kitchen, located on Neilsen Street.
