UPDATE (1:04pm): We can now confirm that the victim in last night’s shooting on Robinson St. passed away at the age of 19.  See this story for the update.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Multiple units responded to a report of a shooting at 44 Robinson Street at around 9:28 last night, where they found a person who had been shot in the chest and shoulder.

It is not immediately clear whether the victim survived the shooting.  According to police radio transmissions, the New Brunswick Fire Department was dispatched to the basement of the Robinson Street home to “assist with a technical rescue” at 9:40pm.

About 10 minutes later, a police officer reported finding a “small caliber handgun” in front of 5 Lorain Street.  It is not immediately clear if an arrest was made, but police did identify a “possible suspect” in the area.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male approximately 6′ tall, wearing a grey and white hoodie, white-colored jeans and white shoes.  He was said to have fled through backyards, headed towards Louis Street.

Two people, including a teenager, were shot during the afternoon of September 9 on Throop Avenue.  On Saturday morning, a 20-year-old man was shot on Easton Avenue shortly after 2am.

And, on Monday night, a 17-year-old youth was shot in the area of Redmond and Drift Streets, according to a report by the Star-Ledger’s Tom Haydon.
