VIDEO: Pokémon Go Brings People Together in New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Pokémon Go is the free "augmented reality" mobile phone game that has taken the country by storm, bringing its millions of users outdoors all over the U.S.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company released the game in the U.S. on July 7, and it quickly captured more daily users than Instagram and Snapchat.  Within the first week, more than 21 million users had signed up to play.

Sky Blue FC Extends Win Streak with Victory Over Spirit

PISCATAWAY, NJ—On July 23, Sky Blue FC (6-4-4, 22 pts) secured a 1-0 victory over the visiting Washington Spirit (8-2-3, 26 pts) in front of their fans at Yurcak field on the Rutgers campus.

Achieving something they haven't since 2014, Sky Blue FC extended their unbeaten to streak to three and disrupted Washington's first-place chances, sending themselves into a tied position for fourth place with the Chicago Red Stars.

Rutgers Pitcher Sued Over Alleged Violent Attack on Team Manager

PISCATAWAY, NJ—In yet another case of a Rutgers University student athlete allegedly assaulting a member of the university community, a recent lawsuit has shined a light on a violent incident involving one of the baseball team's top pitchers.

It all started on October 18, 2014, when then-19-year-old Rutgers freshman John O'Reilly reportedly returned to the South Tower dormitory on the Livingston Campus in a state of intoxication.

Sky Blue FC Wins Over Houston in Piscataway

PISCATAWAY, NJ—On a cool and misty Saturday night, Sky Blue FC (4-4-4, 16 pts) was able to secure a 1-0 victory over the visiting Houston Dash (2-7-1, 7 pts) in front of their fans at Yurcak field on the Rutgers campus.

For Sky Blue, the region's team in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), this was a much-needed victory, as the team picked up three points to put them in playoff contention.

Cruz Earns All-Blue Division Honors as NBHS Boys Tennis Team Produces First Winning Season in 30+ Years

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— Finishing 11-9 overall, 7-7 in the GMC blue division as the fifth best team, years of hard work have finally paid off to disrupt an over 30-year old losing pattern.

The team earned three points at GMCs this year, advancing all three singles flights from the preliminary round to the 1st Round, consisting of all-blue division player and MVP, Abelardo Cruz, Felix Rojas, and Francisco Brena.

NBHS Football Star Signs With Pitt on Full Scholarship

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—With the presence of his family, coaches and teachers, Maurice Ffrench signed a National Letter of intent to play football for the University of Pittsburgh, accepting a full-ride scholarship on February 3.

Ranked as the 45th best player in New Jersey, Ffrench received All-White Division and All-Greater Middlesex Conference honors this past season.

A dangerous and versatile player, he compiled 1,375 rushing yards, 727 receiving yards and 24 total touchdowns.

Four NBHS Coaches Named Coach of The Year, 20 Students Earn All-Division or All-Conference Honors

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—With the recent struggles to find a new athletic director for Rutgers University, perhaps the university should have been looking to New Brunswick High School's very own Rob Thomas, as four NBHS coaches were recognized as "coach of the year" in their respective sports.

“New Brunswick has a dedicated coaching staff that recognizes the importance of excelling both on and off the field,” says Jorge E. Diaz, New Brunswick High School principal.
