Rutgers Football Coach Will Get Paid During 3-Game “Suspension”

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers President Robert Barchi announced on September 16 that head football coach Kyle Flood has been "suspended" for three games and fined $50,000 after an investigation found Flood was in violation of the university’s compliance policies, and possibly its Code of Ethics.

But Flood will still be paid his seven-figure annual salary without interruption.  As we reported, Flood became the highest-paid state employee after signing a lucrative contract extension last fall.

Prosecutor Charges Five Rutgers Football Players with Violent Crimes

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Authorities arrested five current members of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team just two days before the first game of the season.

In total, nine people were arrested and a tenth suspect remains at large, according to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO).

However, the MCPO statement said that only four of the suspects were "Rutgers students" and did not mention that any were student-athletes.

Rutgers Football Coach Under Investigation Over Email He Sent

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers University's Office of General Counsel is investigating whether Kyle Flood, the school's head football coach, violated rules that are intended to keep coaches from interfering with academics.

NJ.com's Keith Sargeant reported that two sources say Flood is under investigation after he allegedly sent an e-mail from his personal account to a Mason Gross School of the Arts Faculty member regarding junior cornerback Nadir Barnwell.

Rutgers Football Lands Four-Star Safety Originally From Ottawa

PISCATAWAY, NJ—Rutgers football team secured a huge recruiting victory on August 8 when safety Patrice Rene chose the Scarlet Knights over Ohio State, Penn State and other schools.

The highly-touted defensive back declared his intentions to play football on the banks through a post on Twitter.

“I have decided to further my education and football career at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY,” Rene wrote.

Rutgers Football Adds Three-Star Defensive End Tymir Oliver

PISCATAWAY, NJ—Rutgers University's football team has once again added a new member to its growing 2016 recruiting class, as Pennsylvania defensive end Tymir Oliver has committed to the program.

Oliver was long expected to end up at Rutgers, but finally made it official that he will be playing college football “on the banks” on August 5.

The pass rusher announced his commitment to the Scarlet Knights on Twitter: “Blessed to Announce My Commitment to Rutgers University #CHOPNation #RU16”
