Summer Concert Series Kicks Off With Annual Celebration of Oaxacan Customs

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The "Hub City Sounds" summer concert series is set to bring jazz, blues, and other musical styles to free events throughout the Hub City between July 24 and September 18.

Hub City Sounds offers acoustic outdoor performances as part of free, family-friendly events held at various locations including Boyd Park and Joyce Kilmer Park, as well as the Crossroads Theatre and State Theatre in downtown.

Walking Tour to Remember Fallen From the Civil War Era

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ–The Elmwood Cemetery walking tour will highlight local heroes' endeavors whose lives have been disrupted during the Civil War era.

The tour will grant visitors an opportunity to step back into the past on October 10 at 10:00 am, during a walk through the cemetery’s Victorian architectural setting.

Established in 1868, the cemetery is located just across the border between New Brunswick and North Brunswick, where Commercial Avenue ends.

Blood Drive in Highland Park to Honor State Trooper Anthony Raspa

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—A community is coming together to save lives through blood donations in memory State Trooper Anthony Raspa, who died on-duty at age 24 earlier this year.

Community Blood Services is teaming up with the Highland Park First Aid Squad to host a blood drive in honor of the late State Trooper at the Senior/Youth Center, located at 220 South 6th Avenue, on August 25 from 3-9pm.

Trooper Raspa, a Highland Park resident, was killed in a vehicle crash after hitting a deer on the Interstate 195 in Freehold Township.

Dream, Believe, Succeed: Rutgers Future Scholars Program Works with New Brunswick Students

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The phrase “dream, believe, succeed” is more than just a decorative motto on the t-shirts designed for the Rutgers Future Scholars (RFS) program.

Dr. Eve Remsen Sachs, program coordinator of the Rutgers Future Scholars, discussed the program’s functions and objectives.

“The purpose is to offer hope, opportunity, and the promise of scholarship support if admitted to college,” Sachs said.
