VIDEO: NBPD Dashboard Camera Reveals New Details in Arrest of McKinley School Vice Principal

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—New Brunswick Police video of the November 21 traffic stop and DWI arrest of McKinley Community School Vice Principal Lester Voorhees shows that he repeatedly mentioned his position to officers who had pulled him over.

"I work at a school.  I'm the Vice Principal," Voorhees told Officers Matt Ganzer and Rodney Tillery two minutes into the stop.

Free Holiday Concert at Public Library Featuring NBHS Orchestra and Band

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick High School Orchestra and Band will be performing a free holiday concert for the community at the city's public library on Monday, December 15 at 4pm.

The program, which was planned by the NBHS Tri-M Music Honors Society officers, will take place in the New Brunswick Free Public Library's Carl T. Valenti Community Room, located at 60 Livingston Avenue.

McKinley School VP Arrested For Drunk Driving and Drug Possession

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Superintendent Richard Kaplan confirmed that the New Brunswick school district has suspended one of its Vice Principals with pay after his arrest over the weekend.

Lester Voorhees, Vice Principal of McKinley Community School, was arrested on Friday for drunk driving and possession of marijuana and cocaine, among 13 total charges, according to Police Captain JT Miller.

Voorhees was pulled over by the New Brunswick Police at the corner of Hamilton Street and High Street at 11:07 PM on Friday, November 21.

Three Highland Park Board of Education Seats Up For Election

UPDATE (11/5):  The team of Anne Gowen, Robert Roslewicz, and Michelle McFadden-DiNicola swept into all three seats that were open in the election.

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—Seven candidates will compete for three seats on the Highland Park Board of Education during this Tuesday's General Election.

Each of the nine members of the Board of Education hold their positions for three years. Gregory Deatz and current Board President Daniel J. Ross will be leaving the Board this November after carrying out their terms.

Ballot Questions on Right to Bail, Open Space, Arts Funding, and Women’s Healthcare

UPDATE (11/5): All four ballot questions passed in their respective areas (county and statewide).  New Brunswick voters also overwhelmingly approved all of the questions.  State Question Number 1 was the closest, but that won 1,101-785 in the Hub City.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Middlesex County voters will be presented with four ballot questions in the November 4 general election that pose possible policy changes to pretrial detention, environmental preservation, cultural arts support, and women's health programs.

Deadline to Register to Vote in Upcoming Election is October 14

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Middlesex County Board of Elections is encouraging eligible voters to register to vote and update their information in preparation for the upcoming general election on Tuesday, November 4.

The deadline to update voter information and register to vote is October 14, three weeks before the election.

Voters can check their personal information by visiting the State Division of Elections website or by contacting the Middlesex County Board of Elections.
