Employment Discrimination Lawsuit Proceeds Against Rutgers President’s Chief of Staff

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Last April, University President Bob Barchi appointed Gregory Jackson to a newly-created position in his administration: Chief of Staff.

Previously a Rutgers Associate Vice President and Interim Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Jackson has served as Barchi's "right hand man" from the beginning of his administration in September 2012.

Family Day Street Fair Today in Downtown New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— Today there will be free family activities plus special performances and workshops at various downtown venues including the State Theatre, Crossroads Theatre, George Street Playhouse, United Methodist Church.

There will also be a heated tent set up in front of the State Theatre (15 Livingston Ave) known as the "Hub City Big Top," where families can enjoy free balloon animals, face painting, games, music, and more!

Local Record Label Celebrates 10 Years of Underground Music and All-Ages Shows

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A record label started in New Brunswick is celebrating their 10th anniversary at several concerts taking place in Brooklyn from Thursday evening February 6 through Saturday February 8.

Don Giovanni Records will celebrate ten years in business with their annual showcase, taking place at two separate concert venues in Brooklyn.

Governor Christie Has No Explanation For His Veto of Restrictions on Drone Surveillance

TRENTON, NJ—Warrantless surveillance by airborne drones, and even unmanned aerial vehicles with weapons attached to them, are still considered legal in New Jersey.

On Tuesday January 21, Governor Chris Christie pocket vetoed the bill that would have put restrictions on the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).  He gave no explanation for his decision.

Rutgers University to Test Drones

Update: According to New Brunswick Today’s Richard Rabinowitz, unmanned aerial vehicles have been in New Brunswick since at least 2009.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers University will be testing unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly referred to as drones, for use by U.S. government agencies.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced plans on Monday to test unmanned flying aircrafts at several colleges including Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and the University of Maryland.
