New Brunswick Music Scene Archive Launches at Alexander Library

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers University Libraries launched a new project, dubbed "the New Brunswick Music Scene Archive," on October 22.

The library hopes the archive will help document local music history, which has been scattered and driven underground over the past few decades, but not forgotten.

"New Brunswick has been host to a vibrant musical community for such a long time," said Christie Lutz, the Head of Public Services at Rutgers Libraries.

Legendary Court Tavern Reopens With New Manager

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—After two months in limbo, the Court Tavern will reopen on September 4, under the leadership of experienced local music promoter Brittney Dixon, also known as Brittney On Fire.

The first show, called A New Hope, will be kicked off by booked bands Owel, Chemtrail, GayGuy/StraightGuy, Centennials, and Delsea.

Doors open at 7:30pm and the first band is scheduled to go on at 8pm.

16th Annual Rutgers Dance Marathon Raises $692,047 For Children With Cancer and Blood Diseases

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On April 11 and 12, Rutgers hosted its 16th annual Dance Marathon, the state's largest philanthropic event, which serves as a fundraiser for the city-based Embrace Kids Foundation.

Funded by student organizations, fraternities and sororities, Rutgers alumni, and other company sponsors, just over $692,000 has been raised this year, adding to the total of $4.2 million raised since the event’s inception.
